Francis Lee's remarkable debut - that is rightly being hailed as one of the best British films of the year - is a brilliantly performed and impressively unsentimental story of love and longing in the Yorkshire Pennines.

Yorkshire sheep farmer Johnny (Josh O'Connor) works long hours in brutal isolation on his family's remote farm, only finding release from his exhausting routine through binge drinking and casual sex. When lambing season arrives, Gheorghe, a Romanian worker, is brought into help, and Johnny finds himself having to deal with emotions he's never felt before, and an intense relationship forms that could change their lives forever...

Variously reviewed as a 'British Brokeback Mountain', this film is so much more than that (and, some say, it's a better one too). It's a real gem of a film: truthful, big hearted, romantic, and hopeful.
