Miriam Schmid

My name is Miriam Schmid. I`m 31, live in Stuttgart, Germany and work for the Youth Trust Baden-Wuerttemberg.

The Youth Trust Baden-Wuerttemberg supports committed young people to help them realise their ideas, initiatives and projects. Since 1982 almost 2000 youth work-projects have been funded by us with nearly 10 million Euros. Our schemes take on current social questions and create an innovative discourse with partners from the youth education sector and young people. Examples can be found at www.jugendnetz.de , www.jugendstiftung.de .

We´ve already gained considerable experience with digital tools. The online platform “Freizeitwiki Baden-Wuerttemberg” (www.freizeitwiki.jugendnetz.de ) invites young people to share tips and information on what to do in the area; “Redax” allows young people to set up their own online-journal, organise their editorial office and staff, exchange articles with other journals, etc. Here is one of the results: f79.jnbw.de.

I´m keen on learning more about digital tools for participation and active citizenship and getting to know other European projects.

This project is led by Watershed (Bristol, UK) in partnership with Resource Centre for Educational Development (Aarhus, Denmark), Landeshaupstadt Hannover – Kulturbüro (Hannover, Germany) and Welfare Enterprise of Technology and Education of Municipality of Amaroussian (Amaroussian, Greece).
