Towards Equitable Futures (2020)
We live in capitalism, its power can often seem inescapable - but then, so did the divine right of kings. Any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings. Resistance and change often begin in art. Ursula K. Le Guin, National Book Foundation Medal speech 2014 Towards Equitable…I bring an energetic and hopeful approach to thinking about our collective futures.
I currently mentor 15 practitioners and work with cultural organisations such as Rising, Rife Magazine, Babbassa, Knowle West Media Centre, Acta. I have worked with universities to develop richer understandings of POC students, alumni and the communities they represent.
I have supported the sector in creating welcoming and respectful spaces, with workshops, conference sessions and away days for NESTA, We the Curious, Spike Island and Watershed.
