An Evening With The King of Jazz
Please note: This was screened in March 2015
Though best known for his immortal recordings and rollicking live performances, Louis Armstrong was also a constant - and popular - presence in films, appearing in over 30 movies in his storied career. Ricky Riccardi, Archivist for the Louis Armstrong House Museum and author of What a Wonderful World: The Magic of Louis Armstrong's Later Years, revisits Armstrong's silver screen past with a special, one-off screening.
Riccardi screens clips for Armstrong's most popular films such as High Society and The Glenn Miller Story but will also show rarer footage of Armstrong in lesser-known works, including the sensational Edward R Murrow documentary, Satchmo the Great. Don't miss this opportunity to enjoy the cinematic side of Satchmo on the big screen.
