Inspired by Inside Out

This November Watershed invites families to take part in an exciting free interactive event based on Disney Pixar’s instant classic Inside Out, as part of Bristol’s Family Arts Festival. With colourful games and activities that the whole family can get involved in, it’s a fantastic way to end the half-term holidays.

Our Love Tea Dance With A Difference comes as the exuberant end to a week of screenings of Inside Out, and invites young and old to come and connect with the film’s themes of love and positive mental health in a fun and playful way, with activities on offer from the brilliant artists, creative technologists and scientists at our Pervasive Media Studio.

Catch the 13:00 screening of Inside Out on Sun 1 Nov and then join us afterwards at 15:00 - 17:30 for this special event! No need to buy a ticket, just drop by for as long or as little as you like.

Some of what to expect at The Love Tea Dance:

  • Dancing with Light - make beautiful abstract compositions and portraits inspired by the bright colours in Inside Out using movement, light and long exposure photography!
  • Trove - become part of the Trove installation of memories, thoughts and feelings. Make a model or drawing representing a memory at our craft table, record your story onto the object using Trove and then play your stories and others back, with Studio residents Jasmine Butt and Tarim.
  • Digital Storytelling - explore how a problem shared is a problem halved, using physical and digital storytelling techniques, with Studio resident, author and actor Ben Gwalchmai.
  • Mural Making - create a huge mural using glass pens on the windows in our Café/Bar that explores the way emotions overlap, mix and change, with Art Therapist Miranda Wells.
  • Tea & Cake - head to the bar for tea, coffee and freshly baked cakes and biscuits!
  • More family fun this half-term... Join us for a remastered compilation of the best bits of the little-known but absolutely brilliant BBC tv series The Big Knights (Fri 23 - Thu 29 Oct), which is made by the talented creators of Peppa Pig and narrated by Brian Blessed and others.

The LOVE Tea Dance with A Difference is part of the Bristol Family Arts Festival. Watershed is part of a network of arts organisations in the city who are working together to bring you lots of great quality Family Arts Festival events, as part of the National Family Arts Festival.Trove is designed by Studio resident Chloe Meineck, developed with leading adoption agency Coram.
