classifiedSuitable for all
A U film should be suitable for audiences aged four years and over.part of Cinema Rediscovered 2016
Please note: This event took place in July 2016
Following the screening of Wizard of Oz 3D, join us in Waterside 3 for free hands on, drop-in childrens' workshops - join us any time from 13:30 - 15:30.
If you've ever wondered how cinema got started then what better way to find out than by interacting with models of early cinema artefacts and creating your own images? We are delighted to be joined by expert puppeteer and magic maker Emma Powell (Puppet Place associate artist) to help demonstrate how magic tricks and illusions created moving images that began the story of film.
There will be plenty of pencils and paper at the ready, so get drawing and try your hand at movie making with model praxinoscopes, zoetropes, thaumatropes and more. It's a magical, interactive story that lets you create the pictures yourself. This free drop-in workshop is perfect for ages 6-12, but all ages are welcome subject to capacity.
With thanks to the Bill Douglas Cinema Museum for the loan of early cinema replica items.
