Day: Nine Ladies Dancing
Theme: Movement of dancers
Work organised by: Jane Emery (Art Co-ordinator)
Art produced by: Class 2/3E
We chose Nine Ladies Dancing as we were doing dance in the Summer term. We had also been studying the artist Jackson Pollack. We used print-outs from the Internet of his work as a starting point for our first paintings. We then used charcoal for life drawings completed during our dance lessons.
The bird's eye views of dancers in full skirts fitted in well with our maths work on shape and allowed us to use inks and coloured pencil in our work. Like all the best artists we derived influences from many sources!
The children thoroughly enjoyed the project and will be delighted to see their work on screen!
