Remember: the sea is an accessory. It is there to match with bold blue eye make up and (with those giant earrings and meticulous up-do) it is not for swimming in.

You know that sticky kind of summer heat that means you can’t seem to venture further than your front stoop and listen to music from a crackly old portable radio? A Kelis song is always playing. And this outfit, a crochet crop top and tight blue denim, is what you will be wearing.

How to do colour blocking like a pro. This is tricky to execute, because it requires calling up your friends and checking that their colours don’t clash with yours before you meet them, but the pay-off is, clearly, fantastic.

Anyone who is a fan of dresses in the summer will know that there is an endless battle between wanting to wear something light and airy and also knowing that light and airy material is mortal enemies with the wind. Somehow, Jamelia manages to wear the shortest red dress of all time and not expose anything she isn’t trying to, which I think we can all agree is aspirational.
