Rife Magazine Meets George Ferguson
We caught up with George Ferguson to talk about young people, the youth services and Twitter.
Love him or hate him, he’s had a massive influence on Bristol
George Ferguson is Bristol’s first elected mayor. Love him or hate him, he’s had a massive influence on Bristol – whether that’s with our public transport, the Arena or our experience as European Green Capital 2015. We caught up with him to have a chat about Bristol’s young people, youth services and what it’s like to be a mayor.
[Disclaimer: This video was filmed and edited before the start of the 2016 Mayoral Elections, and is intended to be reflecting on George Ferguson’s experience as the current Mayor]
But being a politician in the public view is tricky. Social media means that if people want to say something to you, it’s simply a tweet away. And as the most active leader in local government on social media, George Ferguson is subject to a wide variety of tweets about himself.
Have you ever wanted to give George Ferguson a piece of your mind over Twitter? Have you ever wanted to see how he’d react when you complained about traffic jam, after traffic jam, after traffic jam? Have you ever wondered why he wears red trousers? Well in our video, George Ferguson has responded to some tweets about himself.
If you could give a message to George Ferguson – what would it be? What role do you think social media plays in politics today? Let us know on Facebook or Twitter
