Decalogue 2001: Mulholland Drive
David Lynch's Mulholland Drive was chosen for Watershed's Decalogue season of events as the film from 2001 that most clearly points to the future of film.
In a recent edition of Film Comment magazine, Lynch's luscious, surreal and unsettling neo-noir thriller was cited as one of the decade’s defining films. Unashamedly bizarre, it follows an amnesiac woman who stumbles into aspiring actress Betty’s (Naomi Watts) life. As the pair fall in love and search for the woman’s identity things begin to get very weird indeed... A seductive dreamscape from a hypnotising master of cinema that marked his transition to digital video and a new revolution.
