At this LABS event we talked about the most important person on set, the director and were joined by Sophie Littman, whose films have screened at festivals including London Film Festival, Aesthetica and Cannes.

Being a director is fun, it’s rewarding, it’s creative but it isn’t always easy. From rehearsals with the cast to putting scenes together in the cutting room, you need to stay on top of every part of the filmmaking process and it’s your responsibility to make sure that everything comes together to make your vision a reality.
At this event, we got into all the ins and outs of directing with filmmaker Sophie Littman who talked with Grace Morgan about her career and films, how she got started as a director and shared her tips for directing.

About Sophie Littman:
Sophie Littman’s short film Sudden Light was selected for competition in Cannes Film Festival 2020 and nominated for a BIFA 2021. After graduating from the Slade School of Fine Art, Sophie created a series of short experimental films that went on to screen at festivals such as Aesthetica and LSFF and show via online platforms such as Nowness, and It’s Nice That. Her latest short, Know The Grass, was supported by BFI Network Southwest and BBC Film. The film was selected for competition at London Film Festival 2021 and longlisted for a BIFA. Sophie was selected as a Screen Star of Tomorrow 2021 and is currently developing her first feature.
About Grace Morgan:
Grace Morgan is a disabled actress (represented by Victoria Lepper Associates) and filmmaker, currently studying a filmmaking production degree at Boomsatsuma. Her previous acting experience includes playing the lead in a short film – ORLA, which was at the Cannes short film corner this year. Her previous filmmaking experience includes On My Level which is now in post-production and looking at a festival circuit next year, as well as Have A Good Day (now in pre-production).
