March Lab: Looking Back to Move Forward – Using Archive Film to Develop Your Practice
The next BFI Film Academy Lab will delve into how filmmakers use archive film in their creative practice in groundbreaking and inspirational ways, echoing the spirit of innovation that marked the early days of cinema.
Learn from Tabitha Carless-Frost and Theo Rollason, the filmmakers of Out of the Peat, one of BFI NETWORK’s newest supported shorts, and Chahine Fellahi, facilitator of archive filmmaking workshop Days of Wonder, who will share their process of using archive footage and ephemera filmmaking and artists’ moving image. You will learn how to use the archive to get inspiration for your filmmaking practice alongside the process of accessing, researching and booking archive materials. You will also get an insight into the way different archives operate. If you’re an aspiring filmmaker who wants to know how to use archival materials, this session is for you! You’ll have a chance to ask all your burning questions as well.
This event is delivered by Young Film Network South East and supported by National Lottery funding.
