We’re looking for creative talent based in the South West to take part in a free Introduction to Directing masterclass led by director Sam Masud.
This day long masterclass is provided by BFI NETWORK in partnership with UWE FILM, and is designed to demystify the role of the film director and provide opportunities for creatives who are interested in directing for film, but have no previous experience directing fictional live action.
The day-long masterclass will be led by feature film director Sam Masud (My Pure Land, Two Dosas) and will provide an introduction to the role of the film director, the language of film sets and the process of working with crew and actors.
Sam will also talk about his career as a film director, and potential career paths into and through the industry.
The masterclass will include a practical, hands-on directing exercise for each participant involving professional actors.
It will take place on Saturday 27 April in Bristol at UWE.
The event is open to applications from creatives without any previous narrative live-action filmmaking experience.
For example, creatives working in theatre, photography, writing, acting, visual arts or animation could be interested in applying.
Application deadline is April 17th. Successful candidates will be informed by April 24th.
Please make sure you are available on the 27th if successful at point of application.
