BFI FAN is proud to unveil the new UK-wide season – Art of Action – celebrating the artistry of real action choreography that’s kept audiences on the edge of their seats since the early days of cinema.
This UK-wide season offers an action-packed journey through cinema from the jaw dropping stunts of silent cinema pioneers via the daredevil ethos of Hong Kong filmmaking to today’s intricate dynamic visual choreography.
Art of Action will explore the cinematic artistry, skill and craft involved in creating iconic sequences and films as well as engage with the historic roots and cross-cultural influences of action cinema. You can also expect behind-the-scenes insights into the daring and ground-breaking world of the film action community and opportunities for the next generation of creatives.
A Creative Brief and Guidelines will be shared in March with more information.
For now, FAN members are invited to Watershed, Bristol on Thursday 25th April to join the team and experts involved to explore how you might develop your own activity as part of this UK wide programme. This is also a chance to connect with other film exhibitors that are also interested in developing such projects.
The day is an opportunity for FAN members to come together to explore the themes and opportunities as part of Art of Action. You might just want to find out more about menu titles available; or would like to develop a bespoke programme in your location; or have an idea for a cross FAN project involving several exhibitors around the UK. Get involved!
