Film Hub South West invites all Film Hub Members to participate in this course to update their knowledge and safeguarding policies for working with children, young people and/or vulnerable adults.

This course provides a full update on current child protection and safeguarding adults at risk best practice and legislation, including the Disclosure and Barring service, the Duty to Refer and Working Together.

The day will provide in-depth practical advice to help you develop sensible structures and build confidence around child protection and safeguarding adults at risk issues, within the context of developing and delivering creative and cultural projects. The course also includes a “safe touch” section, exploring how child protection and safeguarding vulnerable adults guidelines can be maintained within more physical art forms.

Ideal for:

Everyone working or looking to work, in the creative, cultural and heritage sectors with children, young people and adults at risk.

You will gain:

  • Understanding of what is meant by the term ‘child’ and ‘adult at risk’ in the context of your work
  • Knowledge of the forms that abuse may take
  • Understanding of how to identify signs and symptoms in your workplace / working context
  • Confidence in handling disclosures and reporting procedures
  • An overview of the legislation and guidance concerning child protection and safeguarding adults at risk
  • Confidence around safe touch

 

This course is offered free to Hub Members however there is a £20 deposit to secure a space, which will be refunded to those who attend the course.
