Compass Presents

Compass Presents creates expanded cinema experiences, shows that combine film with live elements such as dance, circus, projection mapping or live score.

Compass Presents is particularly interested in exploring the way live performance can bring immediacy and relevance to cult and archive film content, reimagining it for new audiences. Compass Presents uses sound and light installation, performance, objects and technology to create immersive environments or interactive playthings to give new experiences to audiences.

As well as working in traditional venues, Compass Presents often create pop-up work in found spaces to entice new audiences from outside the cultural sector. They model a way of working with local people through embedding participatory elements in their shows.

With a track record around engaging new audiences in innovative cultural work, Compass Presents collaborates with a range of partners, including cultural institutions (e.g. British Film Institute), commissioning bodies (e.g. Arts Council England), artistic organisations (e.g. The Royal Shakespeare Company), conferences (e.g. UNESCO Creative Cities Annual Conference), and festivals (e.g. Glastonbury Festival) as well as local authorities and commercial companies. Tara Sachdeva is founding director of Compass Presents and artistic director of Compass Presents productions.
