Stockbridge Community Cinema is a community organisation that exists to provide screenings of quality contemporary films. These are screened in Stockbridge Town Hall twice monthly – mainstream drama / comedy titles on one day and more specialist / art-house films including foreign language and documentary films on another. We also screen occasional ‘recorded live’ events (theatre, opera & ballet).
A Baby Film Club is also run monthly for parents accompanied by babies up to 12 months old. For young people we have screened occasional weekend ‘family’ films to raise funds for the local primary school and participated in the annual Into Film Festival since 2015 with free screenings for the two schools in Stockbridge.
We provide a social experience that is greatly appreciated by the local rural community. Our events are provided in a comfortable atmosphere at a modest cost and we try to promote the greater appreciation of film by screening a wide variety of film genres. This is to encourage people to see films they would not normally choose to see or do not have the opportunity to see in local mainstream cinemas. We have a growing email address list which provides us with a strong base of regular customers. Many originate from people from nearby rural locations when booking tickets online.
We were shortlisted in the Best New Society category at the Cinema For All Awards 2016.
