An important aspect of Cables & Cameras is to enlist keynote speakers. We are looking for successful industry figures to inspire the next generation of BME filmmakers and advise on different aspects of the industry. Bristol is one of the most powerful creative hubs in the southwest but appears to have had little success in addressing diverse and unrepresented communities in the film sector. The city has always punched above its weight in its creativity in other fields (one of the many reasons we know that with the right push, Bristol’s aspiring BME film makers can create an impact in film just as they’ve achieved in the music sector).

In a short period of time Cables & Cameras have gained support from UWE film school, The Cube Cinema, and are currently in talks with independent production company 8th Sense Media, Buff Films and The New Black Film Collective. We will be looking for contributors from Bristol City Council and sponsorship from regional partnership and funding. The event now needs headline support to create maximum interest and hopefully develop the next Noel Clark, Steve McQueen or Amma Asante. The talent is out there, Cables & Cameras job is to support and expose it.
