Live Script Reading South West – SUBMISSIONS NOW CLOSED

Are you a South West writer with a bold, exciting new script idea? Then BFI NETWORK, Film Hub South West and Encounters Festival are looking to hear from you.

We’re seeking writers with inspired creative approaches and new perspectives – writers with work that’s surprising, revelatory or challenging. It’s free to submit your script, and selected scripts will be performed by a professional cast during Encounters Festival 2018.

What’s available?

After assessment by an industry panel, selected scripts will be performed by a professional cast at Encounters Film Festival 2018. The chosen writers will be invited to the festival, with access to the full festival programme on the day of the event. They’ll also receive the opportunity to meet and discuss their work with the regional BFI NETWORK Talent Executive, Alice Cabanas and Bristol based scriptwriter and dramaturge, Sharon Clark.

Bursaries for travel costs, childcare and access support are available too.

What are we looking for?

Up to 10 pages of a bold and original short or feature film script.

Who are we looking for?

This call is open to all, and we encourage submissions from writers who may be working in other disciplines who are interested in writing for film.

Applicants must…

  • Be based in the South West of England
  • Be submitting a script which has not yet been produced
  • Not yet have written a feature film script that has been produced and distributed
  • Be over 18 and not in full-time education
  • Submit up to 10 pages in length only – any script longer than this will not be read in its entirety
