Announcing the BFI FAN Film Exhibition Fund 2023 Awards: bringing more films to audiences across the South West!

Following our first of two calls this year (2023-24) for applications to the BFI Film Audience Network (FAN) Film Exhibition Fund this year, a number of large-scale public events are taking place across the South West this Autumn.  

Film Hub South West is proud to award a total of £53,000 in funds from the National Lottery to 11 BFI FAN member organisations across the region to create more opportunities for people to engage with a diverse range of films and moving image where they are; delivering against the priorities set out in in BFI’s Screen Culture 2033 strategy.

Through the BFI FAN Film Exhibition Fund (awarding over £750,000 UK wide), Film Hub South West has awarded £53,000 this year to 11 FAN organisations across the region to develop cultural cinema offerings and expanded wrap around activity.

Cornwall Film Festival 2023

6-19 November 2023

For 11 days in November, audiences of all types & stripes gather for the 22nd edition of the acclaimed Cornwall Film Festival program. Running concurrently with the OtherRealms exhibits and experiences, attendees can take advantage of the opportunity to connect with a wide array of events, making the Film Festival an unparalleled experience at the forefront of technology, creativity and imagination. Working with Mor Media Charity, Cornwall Film Festival encourages creativity and culture to thrive in the Digital Arts through their film events programmes, education, community and industry projects.

Afrika Eye Festival 2023

14-22 November 2023

Afrika Eye are back soon for their 17th edition of the festival with a programme jam-packed with films, dance, music, food, panel discussions and more. Artists from across Africa and within the diaspora bring insights, creative ideas and extraordinary projects, which broaden and enrich our knowledge of a continent that has for centuries been part of our shared histories without ever having an equal voice.

Cheltenham International Film Festival 2023

15-24 September 2023

Cheltenham International Film Festival marks its 5th anniversary in 2023, moving to new dates, 15-24 September, and to a new home at Cineworld in Cheltenham town centre. The festival will screen new films from around the world, plus film classics and is adding television, and new live events to its programme, along with guest celebrities.

 

FilmBath Festival 2023

20-29 October 2023

During the FilmBath Festival, the beautifully inventive city of Bath in SW England is filled with film fans coming together for an indulgent programme of previews, special events, Q&As, documentary features, silent films with new live scores, shorts and of course the IMDb Awards.

Loved by audience members, volunteers and local businesses, FilmBath Festival has been running since 1990.

Whilst the Film Exhibition Fund is now closed for 2023, Film Hub South West has funding on offer for screenings, the Audience Pitch Pot is a rolling fund, supporting cultural film events and audience development and engagement activity.
