These six directors will take part\u00a0in\u00a0two\u00a0in-person days\u00a0of\u00a0masterclasses led by director and acting coach Em Smith. The weekend\u00a0includes\u00a0workshopping with\u00a0professional\u00a0actors\u00a0and the opportunity to shoot a\u00a0pre-written\u00a0scene on a bespoke film set with the support of BFS crew. His debut short,\u00a0<em>Goodbye Python<\/em>, was the first UK-funded sci-fi by a transgender director, and it screened at BFI Flare, Encounters and on Channel 4. Their short film slate includes\u00a0<em>King Henry<\/em>, supported by IT GETS BETTER UK, and\u00a0<em>Lymp<\/em>, a Cornish-language short exploring his teenage anxiety about being outed by his limp wrist, funded by Screen Cornwall\u2019s FYLM K scheme. Before moving into large-scale productions she directed fringe theatre and created the award-winning web series\u00a0<em>Tour Girls<\/em>. Em\u2019s shorts have screened at BAFTA and Oscar-qualifying festivals worldwide, and her recent BFI-supported comedy-drama,\u00a0<em>Rapture<\/em>, starred Jessica Hynes and Siobhan Finneran. Em was child acting coach on the forthcoming\u00a0<em>Bad Apples<\/em>, featuring Saoirse Ronan.
