Immersive Arts: Funding & Support for UK-Based Artists

Apply now to a brand new funding and support programme for UK-based artists.

Immersive Arts is a UK-wide funding and support programme dedicated to helping artists create and share extraordinary immersive art. With £3.6 million in funding available until 2027, Immersive Arts supports over 200 UK-based artists through three funding tiers:

  • Explore – If you have a creative practice but limited experience with immersive arts or tech, you could receive £5,000 of funding, support, and guidance to explore and spark new thinking.
  • Experiment – Apply for £20,000 and access tailored workshops and support to experiment with an idea and develop a project.
  • Expand – Apply for £50,000 plus tailored mentoring and expert support to expand your work and present it to an audience.

Deadline for Access Support: Mon 11 Nov 2024 – ensure you get the support you need for your application.

About Immersive Arts

Immersive Arts is led by the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol), with the lead hub at Pervasive Media Studio in Bristol, and Watershed as Executive Producer. The programme partners with the University of Bristol and cultural organisations in Belfast (Nerve Centre), Derry (Nerve Centre), Cardiff (Wales Millennium Centre), and Glasgow (Cryptic) to offer a diverse, inclusive, and accessible range of opportunities. Crossover Labs will lead the training and showcasing initiatives, with strategic support from Unlimited, Innovate UK Immersive Tech Network, XR Diversity Initiative, and an international Advisory Board. It provides training, mentoring, and funding across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, fostering a supportive network and community. 

The programme focuses on ‘Immersive Art,’ which uses technology like virtual and augmented reality to actively engage audiences and connect them with both physical and digital spaces. Funding for Immersive Arts is provided through a collaboration between the UKRI Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), Arts Council England, Arts Council of Wales (ACW), Creative Scotland, and Arts Council of Northern Ireland (ACNI), with additional support from The National Lottery.
