After working in various roles at Roger Corman’s New World Pictures, Hurd launched her own production company, Pacific Western (later Valhalla Entertainment), and co-wrote and produced its debut picture, James Cameron’s The Terminator (1984). She went on to produce, among many others, Aliens (1986), The Abyss (1989), Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991), Raising Cain (1992), Armageddon (1998) and Hell Fest (2018); cult classics Tremors (1990) and Dick (1999); and international sensation, The Walking Dead (2010–2022), as well as documentaries including Mankiller (2017) and most recently, The YouTube Effect (2023).
