Cinema Rediscovered 2020 Cancelled
Posted on Thu 9 April 2020
See you at Cinema Rediscovered 2021
Watershed, the home of Cinema Rediscovered, temporarily closed on Tue 17 March. All upcoming screenings and events have been cancelled, and while we did hold out hope that perhaps Cinema Rediscovered could take place in July 2020, unfortunately due to the scale of the pandemic and the uncertainty everywhere, we have had to cancel this year's festival.
We considered many options but came to the conclusion that it would be better to simply cancel the 2020 festival and instead place all our energies into planning for the return of Cinema Rediscovered in July 2021. We will still open next year’s festival with Pam Hutchinson’s Philip French Memorial Lecture.
We’d like to take this opportunity to thank Cinema Rediscovered's many collaborators, freelance creatives, guests and volunteers, partner venues, sponsors and funders for their generous support and above all the audience for making the festival what it is. We know that everyone is facing challenging times. We wish you all well and look forward to welcoming you all in July 2021 to share passions and enthusiasms for all things cinematic. If you have booked for the Philip French Memorial Lecture or you're a Pass Holder, Watershed have sent you an email asking how you would like us to handle your booking. You can choose to have a refund, accept a credit on your account, or donate your ticket/pass to us. If you haven't received the email please email info@watershed.co.uk to let us know how you would like us to process your booking.
We look forward to welcoming you back to Watershed – and Cinema Rediscovered – soon.
Best wishes and stay safe,
The Cinema Rediscovered and Watershed team
