We’re putting the finishing touches to Electric December, our annual short film showcase for filmmakers under 21 years old, which goes live on Sun 1 Dec. This year, we’ve gone global, with entries coming from three continents, making this the widest reaching online showcase of young emerging talent we’ve seen since Electric December began fifteen years ago.
From Sun 1 Dec you can discover a film a day with Electric December as you countdown to Christmas. Each day of advent you can unveil one more of the 24 highly original films that deliver a fantastic mix of comedy, technical skill, imagination and thought provoking issues. This year you can meet time-travellers and cheeky cowboys, find out how to survive a zombie invasion, and witness a unique take on Titanic!

Co-curating this year’s Electric December with Watershed is a group of young creatives with a flair for programming, who are taking part in our Future Producers talent development programme for 18 – 24 year olds. The group’s enthusiasm and hard work have played an important role in making this year’s online calendar so exciting and rich. They’ve redesigned the website, produced promotional materials, looked after the competition’s social media, and sat on the jury which selected the 24 shorts. Alongside New College Swindon, the Future Producers have picked their four favourite films that will be given special awards at the launch party they've organised on Mon 2 Dec.
Nicola Wood, one of Watershed's Future Producers says:
“As a Future Producer it was great to be given the opportunity to organise and deliver a live project with Watershed and we're delighted that so many young filmmakers from across the globe have shown an interest in Electric December. I'm very happy with the 24 short films and am sure they will bring a smile to lots of people in the run up to Christmas."
So why not make your December even merrier by opening up a door a day at electricdecember.org where you can also delve into the previous fourteen years' work.
Electric December is a Watershed production in collaboration with participants from our Future Producers talent development programme and is supported by RIO, Bristol City Council, Arts Council England and Encounters Short Film and Animation Festival.
