Calling all Francophiles! Get your fix of all things French at Watershed this month. Two things the French are absolutely brilliant at are making films and cooking food. Get in the mood for our French films coming soon by tasting some tempting French menu classics in the Café/Bar. To ease you in, if you order two French specials as main meals you can enjoy £5.00 off a bottle of French house wine or even a bottle of Champagne!

We’ve got two delicious French titles coming up - Thérèse Desqueyroux (opens Fri 21 June) and Renoir (opens Fri 28 June). Audrey Tautou is exquisite as the eponymous Thérèse, a free-spirited woman suffocated in her loveless marriage. Meanwhile, Renoir takes a sumptuous look at the twilight days of great French Impressionist painter Pierre-August Renoir and his filmmaking son, Jean, who are both shaken when voluptuous Andrée enters their lives.

Chiming with the French feeling in the air, our Exec Chef Oliver Pratt is carefully crafting some delectable French dishes to tempt your taste buds. Look out for moules marinière, steak bavette, quiche lorraine and mushroom crepes - or perhaps a Salad Niçose if you fancy something lighter. The Chef’s specials are well matched with our excellent value French house wines – choose from La Bastille Blanc, Rosé and Rouge - all at just £16 per bottle. Or you can really treat yourselves with a bottle of our outstanding Champagne by family producer Yannick Prevoteau.

Watershed Exec Chef Oliver Pratt says:

‘I adore French food and I’m really excited to have this chance to add some true French classics to our seasonal menu. Creating the dishes and matching with our classic table wines takes me right back to summers spent travelling around France. I love the idea of bringing a bit of French ambience back to Watershed - I’m hoping we can recreate memories and put people in the right frame of mind by relaxing with French food and wine before they enjoy one of our films.’
