Over the next two weeks (Sat 19 Oct – Sat 2 Nov) we are inviting families to tumble down the rabbit hole for a magical season of films and workshops which have been conjured up by some of Bristol’s most spellbinding talent as part of the nation-wide Family Arts Festival.
Families can make like the March Hare and hop into the wonderful world of our Pervasive Media Studio where the seemingly impossible is brought to life by some of our inspired Studio residents. These are the gloriously creative minds that brought you Hello Lamp Post! and Submergence and residents are thrilled to be sharing their unique inventions, weird science, awe-inspiring games and wacky ways of making art with families attending the festival.
Clare Reddington, Director of the Pervasive Media Studio says:
“Creativity and invention are the lifeblood of the Pervasive Media Studio, so we are very excited to be showcasing some of our most exciting current projects at Down The Rabbit Hole. Tapping into and inspiring the imagination of young people is always hugely rewarding for all involved and as well as having a brilliant day, I hope we might find some talented adventurers looking to collaborate with Watershed in the future."
The festivities begin on Sat 19 Oct with a screening of Tim Burton's striking Alice in Wonderland film followed by a fun-filled Mad Hatter's Magic Tea Party, which celebrates all-things-Alice. Throughout the rest of the festival, participants can draw with magic ink, learn how to dance with giant marbles and do some spellbinding storytelling.
Down The Rabbit Hole has been dreamt up by a group of young aspiring producers who've been concocting new ways of showcasing the work of our Pervasive Media Studio residents. These four young people are part of our Future Producers programme for 18-25 year old creatives, and we think they’ve come up trumps!
Hannah Williams-Walton, Future Producer and Pervasive Media Studio Assistant says:
“Watershed's Future Producers programme has given us the opportunity to programme with creative freedom whilst still receiving fantastic support as we’ve worked to make our ideas come to life. Not only have we gained invaluable insight into the industry but we’ve had a lot of fun in the process and we can’t wait for the season to begin.”
This special season of Family Arts Festival events is just around the corner. So it's with great excitement that we invite all those seeking a bit of magic this month to tumble down the rabbit hole, and believe in at least six impossible things before dinner!
Down The Rabbit Hole is presented by our Pervasive Media Studio as part of The Family Arts Festival, BFI Gothic and The Big Draw.
