Watershed has joined forces with UWE Bristol to offer a two new MA courses – one in Creative Producing - inspired by the work of the Pervasive Media Studio, and one in Contemporary Film Culture, both starting in September 2017.

The exciting new Creative Producing course has been developed in response to the significant growth of the role of Creative Producer as someone who can work at the intersections between film, theatre, music, digital, visual art, installation and publishing. Aimed at emerging producers with a professional interest in traditional art forms and digital technology, the programme provides a pathway to a career in innovation in the Cultural and Creative sectors or a step towards further postgraduate research. There will be ten places on the course, with two 50% subsidised placements for BAME students supported by Stephen Lawrence Trust.

The course has been designed and taught by leading figures in the field, and will introduce students to the many and varied facets of the subject, as well as providing much-needed training in the skills required to bring bold, new, ambitious projects to life.”

For those with their eye on a possible career as a producer this will provide a valuable springboard. We will support new producers to make the most of Bristol’s creative industries which are overflowing with ideas and talent, and now needs people with the drive and know-how to take the sector forward.”

A unique feature of the course will be working placements with with some of the most dynamic arts, digital and tech companies in the South West, and an opportunity to produce a creative project. The course will cover all aspects of the creative journey from formulating the idea with creative teams, to funding, and project management and evaluation.

Explore your passion for out-of-the-ordinary film and immerse yourself in film culture in this course, which combines critical, professional and cultural approaches to cinema. Students will be based here at Watershed and at UWE's City Campus, learning from Mark Cosgrove, our Cinema Curator, and other leading professionals. As part of the course students attend the Berlin Film Festival, a great chance to experience the European film market first hand and gain excellent networking opportunities.
