To mark the 4K cinema restoration of David Cronenberg's infamous Crash, film historian, programmer and video editor Jonathan Bygraves explores the commonalities between the work of J.G. Ballard and David Cronenberg.
To mark the 4K cinema restoration of David Cronenberg's infamous Crash (Fri 13 - Thu 19 Nov) we asked film historian, programmer and video editor Jonathan Bygraves to create an introductory video essay, which will also screen with the film in the cinema. Exploring the commonalities between the work of J.G. Ballard and David Cronenberg, Bygraves offers us insight into two artists, both influenced by the Beat generation and interested in the intersections of fetish, technology, violence and the psychosexual.
