Tricia Tuttle has over 25 years of experience in film exhibition and talent development and has held leadership roles at BAFTA, BFI, National Film and Television School (NFTS). She is currently the Director of Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale). From early 2023 Tricia was Head of Directing Fiction at NFTS, before which she was Director of BFI Festivals, overseeing the teams that run BFI London Film Festival and BFI Flare: London LGBTQIA+ Film Festival from 2018. This followed 5 years as Deputy Head of both Festivals.

Across those roles, she was passionate about making BFI’s Festivals more inclusive and expanding audience reach. Under her leadership, the LFF introduced new initiatives such UK-wide cinema venue partnerships and digital screenings which opened up the Festival to audiences around the UK, and introducing LFF For Free, an extensive programme of free screenings and events, an initiative which expanded the reach of the Festival by over 50%.

She also launched a major exhibition programme of immersive and XR works in her time as Director of BFI London Film Festival. As Deputy Head of Festivals, she developed BFI Flare’s long running LGBTQIA+ Mentorship programme now delivered in partnership with BAFTA, and BFI Flare’s FiveFilms4Freedom in partnership with the British Council.
