Following on from The Square (2018), Triangle of Sadness sees director Ruben Östlund turning his satirical attentions away from the art world, and towards the upper classes. The film follows a group of the super hot and super rich as they set sail on a luxury cruise, eating expensive food, and annoying the workers of the boat with ludicrous requests. 

Disaster strikes, fancy food comes out the way it came in, and a select group of survivors end up marooned on an island. To quote the fox from Antichrist (2009), “chaos reigns”. 

While sometimes falling a little flat in putting across what it wants to say about capitalism and class structure, the film is undeniably very funny, and definitely one that is worth watching with an audience. Some of the more vomit-y scenes are fun to watch alongside people who are equally upset by them. I say fun. 

Triangle of Sadness is absolutely insane. Whether I mean this in a positive way or not, I am still not entirely sure. It is definitely worth watching though, especially if you like watching the super hot and super rich super suffer.
