The Moon Is A Green Cheese follows a family in their summer house in the Stockholm archipelago. The two daughters fantasise that they are adults, representing different colours – red, yellow, blue, green, violet, black and indigo.
This is director Mai Zetterling’s only children’s film and was inspired by Goethe’s theory of colour. Apart from a screening at the Nordic Film Days in Lübeck, Germany, it was only shown once on television, two years after it was made, at 20:00 on a Friday, leading critics to wonder just who the intended audience was.
