Immerse yourself in a cinematic journey through Latin American countries throughout November with a selection of four films by contemporary female directors from the region that explore stories of women and young people at the margins of society.

The season has been curated by Lorena Pino Montilla, originally from Caracas, Venezuela, who is interested in using cinema to build bridges between communities, while exploring topics of migration and identity.

The poetic Daughter of Rage (La hija de todas las rabias) opens the season - written and directed by Laura Baumeister de Montis and is the first feature narrative film by a woman born in Nicaragua. On the second Sunday, delve into Venezuela to witness the power of music in Children of Las Brisas (Niños de Las Brisas), the debut documentary-length film by Marianela Maldonado. Take a trip to Peru with Melina León’s black and white debut, A Song Without a Name (Canción sin Nombre), the first film directed by a Peruvian woman invited to premiere at Cannes. Finally, join us on Sun 26 Nov for the screening of award-winning Alis, the second feature documentary by Clare Weiskopf and Nicolas van Hemelryck, about street girls from Colombia.
