Thelma
classified 12A"You'll want to see this with your best friend, your parents, and yes, your grandma." The Wrap
Oscar® nominee June Squibb plays her first lead at 94, in a tender and well-observed story of a grandmother refusing to accept the limitations of age, directed by improv comedy veteran Josh Margolin.
Thelma (Squibb) is a feisty 93-year-old grandmother who gets conned by a phone scammer pretending to be her grandson (The White Lotus’ Fred Hechinger). Subsequently, she sets out on a treacherous quest across Los Angeles, accompanied by an ageing friend (Richard Roundtree) and his motorised scooter, to reclaim what was taken from her.
An ode to Margolin's real-life grandma Thelma, this film is a comedy gift of lightness.
