In this week's Lunchtime Talk, Martha King, Creative Co-Director at Knowle West Media Centre (KWMC) will discuss the Forms of Intelligence Project, exploring forms of intelligence beyond that of humans.
In 2020, during the global pandemic, KWMC ran a project called 'Forms of Intelligence,' bringing together people who work closely with animals and plants, from a wide range of disciplines and backgrounds. They explored why Artificial Intelligence (AI) is often modelled on human intelligence, looking how different forms of animal and plant intelligence could inspire the design of technologies that benefit all living things. The group ranged in age from 18-80 and through their embodied knowledges, of working closely with birds, trees, spiders, coral, soil they dreamed, generated ideas, made podcasts and a set of cards for interspecies care.
