An illustrated talk about the history, cultural status and patterns of the stunning resist-dyed Adire cloths, plus a rare opportunity to handle the Adire textile collection. Following his recently updated publication on the Adire cloths of South West Nigeria, Doig Simmonds along with Annie Menter will discuss the cultural significance of these textiles, referencing how tradition, design, and fashion have a role in conferring status and identity.
