This lush new film from Jim Jarmusch focuses on a bus driving poet (Adam Driver) in a small New Jersey town who practices his craft amidst the quiet magic of everyday life.
Paterson (Driver) is an ordinary working guy in a run-of-the-mill small city. He has his standard daily routine (which includes jotting down some lines for his latest poem and stopping by his favourite bar every night), and a loving relationship with his wife Laura (Golshifteh Farahani), whose talents span every kind of DIY, cupcakes and electric guitar. Following the pair over eight days, the film turns the tiny details of their life into a deeply felt consideration of marriage, love, compromise and the casual oddities inherent in being alive...
A charming and moving depiction of how lovers can co-exist and support each other's creativity, Paterson is a rewarding slow burn of a film - and the poems are beautiful, too.
