Jean-Luc Godard's critique of radical student politics pre May 1968 focuses on five university students who spend their summer holed up in an apartment before deciding to achieve revolution through violent means.
A group of university students lead by Veronique (Anne Wiazemsky)and Guillaume (Jean-Pierre Léaud) form a Maoist cell during their vacation. From their posh Parisian apartment they study political texts, deliver lectures to each other, and discuss the possibility of a cultural revolution in France.
Fierce, alienated, and sincere, these young people embrace the slogans of their heroes (Lenin, Marx, Mao and Brecht) with an energy that is both terrifying and surprisingly funny. A prophetic and powerful film that marked the beginning of a more explicit political bent to Godard's work, join us for this special screening ahead of its 50th anniversary BluRay re-issue.
