Bruce Lee remains one of cinema’s most iconic and enduring figures. To mark 45 years since his tragic death and to celebrate his life and legacy, join us for this special screening of his final, and most enduring, movie.
Few actors have had the cultural impact that Bruce Lee has had. Despite only making five films (with Game of Death being completed after his death with stand-ins), Bruce Lee’s legacy has endured and only grown with time.
Lee was determined to bring the beauty of Chinese culture to the West and despite facing numerous boundaries would go on to became cinema’s first global superstar – thrilling Eastern and Western audiences alike.
Enter The Dragon was set to be the film that would propel Lee on to the A-list in Hollywood, but tragically, he never got to see the global impact that Enter The Dragon would have, nor how audiences worldwide would embrace cinema’s first Asian superstar. He died on 20 July 1973 at the age of 32, six days before the film was released in Hong Kong.
His legacy is incalculable, with legions of action stars citing him as an influence. It’s impossible to imagine the likes of Jackie Chan (who appears in Enter The Dragon in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it role), Jean-Claude Van Damme, Donnie Yen or Chuck Norris having the careers they’ve had without Bruce Lee blazing a trail for them.
