The hours of 5 to 7 are when Parisian men meet their mistresses, but Cleo (Corrine Marchand) has other concerns weighing on her mind. Waiting on the results of a cancer test, she wanders the streets of the city, in real-time, hoping to find solace in the faces of friends and strangers.

Photographed in striking black and white, Paris provides a stunning backdrop for the subdued tone of this iconic tale of one of cinema’s most memorable women on the periphery - Cleo is a screen flaneuse par excellence. Blending vérité and melodrama, Agnès Varda distinctly and deftly reveals the internal anguish of a modern woman in 1960s Paris. Featuring a dazzling score by Michel Legrand (The Umbrellas of Cherbourg) and cameos by French New Wave darlings Jean-Luc Godard and Anna Karina.
