Borrowing elements from cinema verité and video blogging, My Friend the Polish Girl follows an American filmmaker attempts to make a documentary about the lives of migrants in post-Brexit referendum London.
Wealthy American director Katie (Emma Friedman-Cohen) casts Polish woman Alicja (Aneta Piotrowska) as the protagonist in her experimental documentary. Her sole instruction? Raising interesting questions about truth and manipulation in filmmaking, this multi-award-winning film is a wholly inventive, raw and sexual look at power, control, intimacy - and the treatment of migrants here in the UK.
