Cinema Rediscovered 2018
Please note : this season finished in July 2018
“All films are born free & equal” - André Bazin (1918 – 1958)
The influential French critic André Bazin was the prototype cinéphile and film activist. His film writings opened up an appreciation and understanding of this new artform and he was a huge influence on a generation of younger film critics who would go on to change filmmaking itself - including François Truffaut, Jean Luc Godard and Claude Chabrol.
This strand of conversations and screenings invite you to celebrate Bazin’s impact and influence on film whilst readdressing his simple yet fundamental question: “What is cinema?”
