Get fruity and transform yourself into Carmen Miranda in this FREE and fabulous hat-making workshop. Famed for her fruit-filled hat, Carmen Miranda was a Brazilian singer, dancer and actor who hit the big time in the Golden Age of Hollywood musicals.
We'll kick off the day in the cinema with clips from one of the greatest musical choreographers, Busby Berkeley’s extravagant, highly choreographed 1940s Hollywood musical, The Gang’s All Here, before heading over to the Link in the Cafe & Bar where Karen and Alice from Let’s Make Art will guide everyone into assembling a tropical headdress complete with sky high fruit and flowers inspired by the film.
We’ll finish the workshop by strutting our stuff in our fabulous headdress in a simple dance routine inspired by the Brazilian Bombshell at 11:30am. Or if you think you need some more dressing up to do, head over to The Greatest Showman Dressing Up Booth with Amy Steele from Stay Gold for an eclectic mix of dressing up clothes to accompany your Carmen inspired headdress and have your photos taken before joining the dance extravaganza.
