Mozambican director António Pinhão Botelho, brings to life this unlikely but true story about the society of metropolitan Portugal and its African colonies at the beginning of the 1960s.
Set in 1960-61, a tumultuous year for Portugal and its fascist regime, Eusebio was a promising footballer in Maputo, who became a legend when he was kidnapped and taken to Lisbon under the codename Ruth.
Taking place during a time of conflict and unrest, Ruth is a historical telling of one year in a country in which social-political commotions inadvertently catch up and cross paths.
