A young woman in Norway flees the Nazi roundup and conceals her identity while working on a remote farm amidst the hostility of a Nazi-occupied country.

Esther (Sarah-Sofie Boussnina), a Jewish-Norwegian teenager, dreams of moving to America with her parents and becoming a Hollywood star. But shortly before the family manages to leave Europe, the Nazis invade the country and their hometown. They are rounded up but Esther manages to escape and winds up on an occupied farm, where she pretends to be a Norwegian boy, perhaps her most demanding role yet. Plotting her escape, Esther's daily challenge to keep her true identity a secret, leads to a series of choices and consequences, which shift the life paths of those around her.

Winner of the Best Cinematography & Best Feature at the European Cinematography Awards, The Birdcatcher is suspenseful and chilling, whilst shedding a light on the little-known plight of Norwegian Jews during the war.
