Chiwetel Ejiofor's debut as writer and director brings to life the story of William Kamkwamba - a 13 year old boy from Malawi who designs and builds a life saving wind turbine for his village against all odds.

Based on an astonishing true story and adapted from William's own memoirs, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind is an uplifting account of a young boy who secretly gains access to his local library and uses the resources to build a wind turbine that will power an irrigation system that will help save his village from famine.

In spite of a number of obstacles, including his relationship with his father (played by Ejiofor himself), William refused to give up

An inspiring account of ingenuity and resourcefulness, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind also reinforces the values it advocates from education and innovation to creativity, family and determination.
