Join us for our first #Shortitout Filmmaker Front Room Q&A with the super talented Iranian-American filmmaker Desiree Akhavan.
Best known for her directorial debut feature Appropriate Behaviour (2014) and more recently The Miseducation of Cameron Post (2018), she also wrote, directed and starred in the Channel 4 series The Bisexual. We will be chatting with Desiree about her filmmaking journey from her lesbian comedy web series The Slope (2010) to Grand Jury Prize Winner at Sundance Film Festival for The Miseducation of Cameron Post and making films about a subject that deeply personal to you.
You can watch The Slope (2010) Season 1 & 2 here.
This event is part of the #Shortitout: Filmmaker Front Room Q&A series presented by BFI NETWORK, Encounters Film Festival and Watershed, in partnership with BAFTA and Channel 4. Every Thursday evening in May we’ll be joined by a different guest; be inspired by their filmmaking journey, get advice on where to start on yours and keep your creative juices flowing!
