Please note: This event took place in May 2020

Post-war austerity is all but forgotten as Bristol's parks, buildings and thoroughfares break out in a Coronation fever of red, white and blue. The formal celebrations take place around the Cathedral and City Hall, but the real fun begins at the city's street parties. Here neighbours vie for the coveted prize of best-decorated street - and the judges definitely have a tough decision on their hands!

Our Cinema Curator Mark Cosgrove said:

"Put together by amateur filmmakers this documentary gives a fascinating insight into another time. Bristol has just begun to recover from WWII, post war austerity is still a reality but the Coronation affords an opportunity for the everyone to come together to celebrate including cricket on the downs, street parties and ceremonies on College Green. I could only watch in envy whilst trying to work out where events were taking place!"
