Pervasive Media Studio residents Action Hero present a 24 hour live radio show of their project Oh Europa, playing love songs from the heartlands of Europe.
Since 2018 Action Hero (Gemma Paintin and James Stenhouse) have been travelling through Europe in their van asking strangers to sing a love song. They've recorded the voices of over a thousand people, singing about love and heartbreak in 46 different languages.
As part of Gift Festival you can tune in online to hear all the love songs recorded to date by ordinary people from all over Europe, and a few new songs recorded remotely specially for this 'lockdown edition' of RadiOh Europa, broadcasting from the artists home in Bristol.

Pervasive Media Studio residents Gemma Paintin and James Stenhouse share an interdisciplinary performance practice together under the name Action Hero. Since 2005, they have created performances spanning theatre, live art, installation, multimedia and site-specific practice, which have toured to over 25 countries across 5 continents. We met Gemma and James in 2017 when they joined our artist residency programme to develop Oh Europa, a collection of works that seek to re-imagine the ways in which we think about Europe, and how we continue to share this space together.
