Inside Film
Please note: This was screened in April 2022
Are you a young, aspiring filmmaker? Well, Inside Film is back with a packed line up that will inspire you to take the next step into the film industry and give you the chance to pick up the skills, support, and contacts to make it happen.
Here's what you can look forward to at this year's event:
How to make a 90 second film with DepicT! - Cinema 3, 13:00-13:45
DepicT! is Watershed’s super-short film competition for films that are 90 seconds or shorter in length. In this workshop, DepicT! winner Ryan Francis will run through what it takes to tell a story, from start to finish, in less time than it takes to brush your teeth.
Short film screening and panel discussion - Cinema 3, 14:00-15:30
The South West is bursting with filmmaking talent and this screening will be a chance to see just a snapshot of what emerging filmmakers in the region have been creating over the last few years with BFI NETWORK, BBC New Creatives and DepicT!. Get inspired and see what’s being made right on your doorstep plus ask some questions to some of the filmmakers after the screening.
Get involved with selecting DepicT! Shorts - Waterside 3, 15:45-16:00
If you’re a filmmaker, you can find out more about how to enter your mini masterpiece with Varun Raman, filmmaker and programmer for London Festival of Short Film. If you love watching films, you might want to get involved in selecting films for the DepicT! shortlist.
Writing workshop - Waterside 3, 16:00-17:00
Screenwriter Zia Holloway will be hosting a workshop on storytelling with a focus on digital storytelling and developing your voice. Zia will be joined by Lydia Rynne, Corrine Walker and Isla Badenoch who will offer tips and advice on how to develop your own creative voice.
Keynote, followed by networking - Waterside 3, 17:00-19:00
Wrapping up the day will be a keynote conversation from Frank Film Club with Maisie Williams - the podcast club for lovers and makers of film - who will be introduced by Bristol-based producer Oona Chanfi. We’ll be joined by the podcast's hosts and chat about all things cinema, from watching hidden gems to making their own work.
